After viewing "The Nativity Story", analyzing your chosen Christmas carol, and reading Philippians 2:1-7, reflect on the meaning of Christmas. How is Jesus described? Who do the Scriptures, songs, and stories say he is? In your reflection, discuss at least one of your carol verses and identify which part of Jesus' birth it emphasizes. What was necessary from Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, and the Persian astrologers for their part in this story? Secondly, discuss how Jesus is described, and finally, think about this question: What type of god comes to earth as a baby? Why, if Jesus' story is true, would God choose this method of coming to His creation?
